Content format guide

Recommended settings. Content that matches them is used exactly as supplied and is guaranteed to display correctly. Anything else is converted first and may not render as intended.

Video

Recommended video settings
File typeMP4
CodecH.264 (AVC), Main profile
Resolution1920 × 1080 landscape · 1080 × 1920 portrait
Frame rate30 fps (25 also fine)
Bitrate8–12 Mbps
AudioAAC, up to 192 kbps
Colour8-bit
Max file size80 MB · up to 360 MB on Android
LengthNo limit

Over 80 MB: the Android app automatically splits the video into up to five parts, which play in order with no loss of quality — so up to 360 MB. Coming soon to iOS and the web console; until then, keep files under 80 MB there.

Smaller files reach screens sooner. 1080p at the recommended bitrate is roughly 1 MB per second.

Images

Recommended image settings
File typeJPG, PNG or WebP
Resolution1920 × 1080 HD · up to 3840 × 2160 for 4K
OrientationMatch the screen
TransparencyPreserved — use PNG or WebP
Max file size30 MB

Images are delivered untouched — no resizing or re-compression. They are never enlarged, so anything below the screen’s resolution looks soft.

PDFs

Recommended PDF settings
File typePDF
Pages shownFirst 5 only
Page sizeMatch the screen's orientation
Max file size30 MB

Each page becomes a slide. Only the first five pages are shown — longer documents upload without warning and the rest never appear. Split them across separate posts.

Design for reading across a room, not in the hand. Password-protected PDFs show nothing. Transparency is flattened to white.

Time on screen

Images and PDF pages follow your board’s Slideshow Period. Videos play in full.

Slideshow period settings

Orientation

Match content to the screen. Mismatched content is never cropped or stretched — the full frame is shown with a blurred surround, but appears smaller.

Avoid

  • 4K video — reduced to 1080p. (4K images are used at full resolution.)
  • 50 or 60 fps — converted to 30 fps.
  • HEVC/H.265, VP9, AV1, ProRes — converted. H.264 is used directly.
