Big screens, for everyone
Our mission is to give small businesses and organisations a presence on the big screen, the way big brands have always had one.
Our story
We build technology that connects people with what’s happening around them. In 2017 our founder, Nikhil Bapna, started the company with Gadfly, a platform connecting citizens with their elected representatives and the candidates in their constituency. It went live in India, the USA and Canada, played a part in state election campaigns, and was covered in the national press.
In 2018 we started SimplylocalX with Simply Local, a neighbourhood network. During the 2020 lockdown it was covered by YourStory and The Tech Panda, and listed by Zee News among five useful apps for the lockdown. We learned that people won’t keep opening another app, so we put the neighbourhood on the screen everyone already looks at. Simply Local became SLX On Air.
Shops, clinics, schools and community spaces have walls that could tell people something, but running a screen well takes money, time and technical help a small organisation rarely has. So we built a Smart Box you plug into any screen and run from your phone. It has been live since 2023.

The team
Nikhil Bapna
Founder & CEO
Nikhil founded the company in 2017 and started SimplylocalX in 2018, where his title is “Chief of Screens”.
Before that he spent nearly ten years at Amkette as Vice President, Business Strategy, running marketing, sales, alliances and new business initiatives.
He studied International Relations, Business and Engineering at the University of Southern California, and holds a master’s in Business, Economics and Finance from Brandeis University.

A team of 10
Our tech team is led by engineers from top universities like IIT. From New Delhi, we design and build everything you use: the Smart Box software, the mobile apps, the web console and the cloud behind them.
