Our mission is to give small businesses and organisations a presence on the big screen, the way big brands have always had one.
Our story
We’ve always built technology that connects people with what’s happening around them. In 2018 our founder, Nikhil Bapna, started Wabi Tech and built Gadfly, a platform that connected citizens with their elected representatives and with the candidates in their constituency. It went live in India, the USA and Canada, played a part in state election campaigns, and was covered in the national press.
Next came Simply Local, a hyperlocal social networking app for what’s going on in your neighbourhood.
SLX On Air grew out of the same idea. Shops, clinics, schools and community spaces have walls that could be telling people something, but running a screen well usually takes money, time and technical help that a small organisation doesn’t have. So we built a Smart Box you plug into any screen and run from your phone. It has been running live since 2023.

Reliability comes first. A screen on a wall should run day after day without anyone having to think about it.

We build features that make viewers look up and pay attention, because a screen nobody watches isn’t doing its job.
The team
Nikhil Bapna
Founder & CEO
Nikhil founded Wabi Tech in 2018 and has led SimplylocalX since 2020, where his LinkedIn title is “Chief of Screens”.
Before that he spent nearly ten years at Amkette as Vice President, Business Strategy, running marketing, sales, alliances and new business initiatives.
He studied International Relations, Business and Engineering at the University of Southern California, and holds a master’s in Business, Economics and Finance from Brandeis University.

Our tech team is led by engineers from top universities like IIT. Together we design and build everything you use: the software on the Smart Box, the mobile apps, the web console and the cloud behind them, from New Delhi.
